Choose 3 dictionary pages. On each page illustrate using pen, marker and colored pencil a word from each page. Take your time and fill the page. Student WorkStudents will explore FORM by creating life like ceramic versions of food. Examples from the webDHC Student WorkSteps: 1. Take a personal photo of yourself or a loved one. Use dramatic lighting to provide ample shadows. Consider the angle. A frontal portrait is typically more difficult to pull off. 2. Draw 4 DIFFERENT sketches. Start with pencil and then work with sharpie. You want your lines to be thick for easier cutting. Activate the background. Once a sketch is chose you will draw a detailed version to scale. 3. Transfer the drawing to the block. 4. Carve away the areas you want to print white. 5. Time to print! Student WorkInstructions: 1. Develop 5 thumbnail sketches. The sketches must have a theme and incorporate texture. 2. One thumbnail will be chosen to be developed as a complete drawing from different angles. 3. Students will build a functional box highlighting texture out of clay.
Images From the WebInstructions: 1. Take 10 dynamic photographs of an orange or a group of oranges. 2. Draw from the reference photograph using colored pencil. Realism and composition are the focus of this project. If possible I would recommend students purchase a personal set of colored pencils.
