Students will create original designs on cardboard using mixed media. They should use at least 3 different mediums, including but not limited to acrylic, oil paint, oil or chalk pastels, charcoal, color pencil, marker, etc. They will work off of the theme DYSTOPIAN CULTURE. 1. Arrange a piece of fruit or variety if you choose. You will be painting from life so we will hot glue the fruit onto a cardboard setting. 2. Watch demonstration on working with oil paint. 3. Prepare canvas board. 4. Paint the fruit as realistically as possible. Internet Examples1. Using your phone take a personal photo of candy. What type of candy are you? Try a variety of angles. DHC Student WorkStudent will look at the artist Lance Letscher and Bratsa Bonifacho for inspiration as they practice color mixing and create a dynamic composition through layering and collage. Option 1: 1. visit DAFONT.COM and draw at least 20 different fonts and create a composition in your sketch book. 2. Choose a color scheme 3. Each letter must be painted a different color or shade. 4. Cut out letters and collage onto a canvas. You may need to make more letters. Consider emphasis, composition, flow etc. Refer to the Elements and Principles of Design on the Foundations page. Option 2: 1. Develop a composition based on a famous abstract artist. 2. In your sketch book create a general drawing which includes the shapes you will create. Intermediate painting may choose a variety of shapes to accomplish a similar goal. In order to asses your drawing ability and level of creativity you will have a day and half to complete the following assignment in class.
On the paper you are given create a composition with: 2 living things 3 non living things A house 4 different colors The only way you will not receive a 100 on this assignment is if you rush it and do not included the items listed. Please be creative and have fun. DO NOT compare yourself to others! Art is so wonderful because it thrives on individualism. Your work may be surreal and abstract, their work may be hyper realistic.
